A day later than usual, but I drank this beer on Thursday. I have to admit that I hadn’t read the notes on the label before jumping in- I really needed a beer, but I did take the time to savour it.
Otley Brewing Company is a Welsh brewery based in Pontypridd. The Otley family have a history in selling the finest beers, and decided to branch out into making them too.
You can learn more about Otley Brewing Company on their website and you can follow @otleybrewingco on Twitter.
What they say about the beer:
A uniquely refreshing Pale Ale. Beer evolution is a mantra at Otley – a synergy of passion, innovation and fresh attitude that results in non-conformist, progressive brews for independently minded free thinkers and drinkers. Brewed with orange peel, coriander and cloves.
What I thought:
Another beautifully bright, crisp looking beer with a good head and decent head retention. The first taste was… Intriguing… I couldn’t decide what I thought, so I had to drink some more. It’s not you’re average pale ale for sure. There was a faintly sweet and sour element to it, some spiciness from the coriander and cloves, which I didn’t think were overpowering but were there in just the right quantities. The clove taste lingered on the palate a while. There was also just the faintest hint of banana coming through, and then a bitter aftertaste (in a good way).
Overall a very, very drinkable beer. More please!
